Jeno part of Red Bank goodness

Jeno part of Red Bank goodness

Red Bank is more than whispers of Sunshine Law violations and salacious lawsuits. There is good news in Red Bank.

Ruth Jeno, a Red Bank commissioner, works tirelessly for its residents. Ruth is a voice of reason at the bi-monthly commission meetings. Only a small portion of her activities devoted to Red Bank is reported. Ruth, an active leader of the Red Bank Seniors on the Go, exhibits concern for every person attending the Monday and Thursday events while arranging lunches and educational programs.

Ruth helps the Red Bank Pride Association, a volunteer, citizen-run advocacy for improvement in Red Bank’s township. Jeno’s energy within this organization and the Red Bank Chamber helps move Red Bank forward.

Sidewalks and street lamps, flower beds, and parks make this city great, despite the political hoopla. Red Bank is a friendly town. People speak, and ready smiles can be found. Commissioner Jeno gives her time and heart for the city’s good and zealously promotes right action and accountability.

There’s good news about Red Bank. Ruth Jeno is just one of them.

For more, come to Red Bank’s Christmas parade Dec. 2 and experience that Mayberry moment and the best in small-town ways.

Paltry excuses for party switch

A popular elected official gave his reasons for recently switching parties. I hope people will see through the shallowness of his excuse.

First, many fine believers, both Democrats and Republicans, attend church regularly, so that cannot be used as a badge of party identification.

Secondly, he states his belief against abortion and gay marriage leads him to switch parties. In a local sheriff’s race, neither of these issues have anything to do with the performance of his duties, unless he intends to direct his deputies to invade our bedrooms and doctors’ offices.

What is known is that the party he now embraces is directly responsible for budget cuts for public safety and education, which does directly affect his ability to protect citizens from crime.

While I respect everyone’s right to their sincere beliefs, it’s time to quit using them as shallow political maneuvers. We need to avoid inflammatory claims of moral superiority.

I am tired of budget cuts to essential services while Big Business gets the breaks, of jobs and legislation held hostage to political ambition.

I will stand with Democrats of integrity who serve the working people of America.
