Children's party in Bradley County ends in shooting, melee

What appears to have been a children's birthday party got out of hand tonight in Bradley County, authorities said.

A man got into a fight and got hit in the mouth, another man fired his gun six times, and a woman apparently suffered a seizure.

A neighbor on Horton Road in Bradley County called the sheriff's department to report what appeared to be a shooting, sheriff's spokesman Bob Gault said.

Investigators discovered that the man who fired his gun shot it into the ground and didn't hit anybody, but faces multiple counts of reckless endangerment, Gault said.

The man with the mouth injury was transported to SkyRidge Medical Center in Cleveland and also will face charges when he is released from the hospital, Gault said.

He said that the men apparently were drinking. No names had been released as of shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday.
