The Georgia Trust for Historic Places named the Crown Mill Store in Dalton to its 2012 list of “Places in Peril.”

The annual report selects 10 historic locations around the state that are in danger of collapse, removal or other threats.

According to the trust, the Crown Mill Store was built in the late 19th century as the company store for Crown Cotton Mills in Dalton. The report states the city-owned store building is in peril because it is vacant and needs restoration.
