Blood Assurance will be open Monday due to a continued blood shortage. While the lab and shipping departments of the area’s only blood bank are open year-round, donation centers are typically closed for six holidays, including Labor Day. Not this year.
“We simply … cannot justify the possible implications to area patients if we do not put forth our very best effort to increase the blood supply,” President and CEO Rick Youngblood said.
