Park rangers and volunteers will lead interpretive tours over a five-day period at Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park to commemorate the 148th anniversary of the Battle of Chickamauga this Sept. 16-20.

Those attending the tours are advised to dress appropriately for the day’s weather, wear sturdy shoes as some walking will be involved, and bring a bottle of water.

Unless otherwise noted, all tours begin at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center, which is directly south of Fort Oglethorpe along Lafayette Road/U.S. Highway 27.

Living History

In addition to interpretive tours of the battlefield, living history demonstrations will be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17-18, at McDonald Field, adjacent the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park Visitor Center.

Artillery demonstrations – followed 30 minutes later by infantry demonstrations – will take place at the south end of field. Parking will be at Tour Stop #1 and in McDonald Field.
