Two men were assaulted and one shot during an early morning robbery today at 600 W 13th Street Court, Chattanooga police say.

Police were called just before 3 a.m. and advised that Pius Mutubwa was taking his friend Agustin Kagoma home when they were approached by two black males, police say.

Mutubwa stated that two men came up to his vehicle and demanded their men’s money. The gunman immediately began hitting Mutubwa in the face with a gun while still demanding money, police say.

As the gunman began searching Mutubwa’s pockets, Kagoma tried to run. As he ran, the gunman fired a shot and struck him in the upper right arm, police say. Kagoma then ran to a nearby friend’s house where he asked them to take him to the hospital.

Police say the suspects took Mutubwa’s car keys and wallet and fled the scene.

The victims said the suspects were young and likely under twenty. One was described as 5’09, and heavy set and the other 6’0, with a thin build.

Kagoma was treated at a hospital but Mutubwa refused treated for minor facial injuries, police said.

If anyone has knowledge of this incident, they’re asked to contact the Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525.
