Obama head to head with uncertain GOP field

Several Republican presidential hopefuls have been on the campaign trail and have appeared on televised debates for a while now.

So, does their performance thus far leave you optimistic that we will have excellent, uplifting candidates from among whom we may choose the next leader of the greatest nation in history?

We clearly do not have an outstanding leader in the White House now. In fact, the American people have become disillusioned with President Barack Obama.

But how does he stack up against the Republican options? The situation isn’t too encouraging so far.

Announced candidate Michele Bachmann and potential candidate Sarah Palin have gained a lot of attention — but a current CNN poll suggests Obama would defeat either one easily.

It also indicates Obama would beat Rick Perry by 5 percentage points.

And Ron Paul would fall short about 4 points.

For now, at least, that leaves Mitt Romney looking like the strongest challenger to Obama. The poll puts them about even.

Are you enthused — or distressed — about the incumbent and his challengers?
