Columbia's Aryanna Gilbert headed to Lady Mocs

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team has picked up a second commitment for 2013-14 in forward Aryanna Gilbert.

The 5-foot-10 Gilbert, rated one of the 10 best seniors in the state according to Hoops Plus's Tennessee Girls Basketball Report, will play at Columbia Central as a senior. This will be her first season with the Lady Lions after transferring from Lawrence County (Tenn.), where she helped lead her team to the Class AAA state tournament last season.

Gilbert visited UTC last Saturday and committed the next day.

"I went and visited and I just absolutely loved it," she said. "It was everything I could have wanted in a college."

Gilbert said she was also looking at Middle Tennessee State and Austin Peay, but once UTC offered her a scholarship she knew where she wanted to go.

"I was waiting for an offer, and then when they made it, that was when I committed," she said. "That was a great feeling."

UTC also has a commitment from Dade County (Ga.) center Ansley Clifton.
