Chattanooga Cheeseheads

With the Green Bay Packers selecting Bryon “B.J.” Coleman Jr. in the NFL draft, many locals will watch with hometown interest in following a young man to Wisconsin whose talent and determination have been recognized by a team that is no stranger to playoffs and Super Bowls.

B.J. Coleman’s path of discipline, focus and tenacity was evident to folks in the Chattanooga area during his successful years at the McCallie School. He continued his journey as a scholarship athlete for the Tennessee Volunteers during the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

Then, in 2009, B.J.’s decision to transfer from the Vols to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with three years of eligibility remaining was a strategic move by a talented player who obviously knew that playing time was a priority to ensure future options.

The UTC Moccasins and the entire Chattanooga football program have benefited from a young man and his family who love their community, love the sport of football and have invested in both.

B.J.’s 6,781 career passing yards (second all time at UTC), a school record of 52 career touchdown passes, and his status as one of two Mocs in school history with more than six 300-yard passing games are just a few milestones that caught the eyes of NFL scouts.
