A music festival to raise funds to build the Southeast Tennessee Veterans Home is hosting four big-name bands Saturday in Charleston, Tenn.
Boogie at the Barn will be held at Pappy’s Place, 185 Morgan Road. Gates open at noon with music starting at 1 p.m. Admission at the gate is $20 for ages 13 and older; parking is $2. Advance tickets are available at several Cleveland businesses.
Bring a lawn chair, but no coolers. Kettle corn, fresh lemonade, hot dogs and more favorite concessions will be sold on-site.
Hardboiled will open the show at 1 p.m., followed by the Dexter Thomas Band at 3 p.m., an Armed Forces tribute at 4 p.m., and Collins Brothers Band at 7 p.m. Hometown favorite Confederate Railroad will follow.
Boogie at the Barn continues the vision of the late John H. Simmons, who saw the need for a retirement facility for veterans. Anticipated groundbreaking is in 2014 for a 108-bed facility that will serve veterans in 12 counties.
