The city of Chattanooga invites Highway 58 residents and business owners to participate in an informational community meeting regarding a traffic enhancement project taking place from the Jersey Pike intersection to Webb Road.
The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 17 beginning at 6 p.m. at Lakeside Academy, 4850 Jersey Pike, will include an informational presentation followed by a question-and-answer session.
“This project is being constructed to provide connectivity for pedestrians from the residential areas to the businesses along Highway 58 while also providing alternative modes of transportation within the project boundaries,” said Chattanooga Traffic Engineering spokesperson Kari Lawman.
At the meeting, the public will have the opportunity to learn more about the upcoming construction and design of a pocket park, pedestrian facilities, streetscapes and landscaping along the stretch of road.
“People will be able to give their input all the way from the landscaping and their preferences on trees and shrubbery all the way up to what parts of the project are needed and aren’t needed,” said Lawman. “Who has a better perspective on that than the residents who live there and use that area?”
