WCDA exploring development opportunities

When it comes to economic development opportunities in Walker County, there are several projects in the works but not all are ready for public discussion.

At its most recent meeting, the Walker County Development Authority briefly discussed “Project Eagle,” which involves a company potentially looking to locate in the county.

“Right now we’re looking at 30-40 days for possible public announcements,” said Walker County Economic Development/Resource Coordinator Larry Brooks. “Right now we’ve not been given any kind of go-ahead with anything and are hoping that timeline appears to be true.”

Another potential project is a possible expansion for Northern Georgia Logistics.

“They are struggling to continue to accommodate the different companies that are asking for them to provide service,” said Brooks. “What is happening right now is they are really starting to look into the possibility of doing some type of expansion. There are a couple of different scenarios they are weighing right now.”
