Most of North Hamilton County’s municipalities now have their budgets set for the fiscal year beginning July 1.
Red Bank voted 4-1 to pass its budget June 18, with Commissioner Rick Causer being the only dissenting vote.
“We could have done deeper cuts in some areas that wouldn’t be entertained by the majority of the members of the Council,” Causer said after the meeting.
If the city cut down on the number of police vehicles, officers could share vehicles and it could save $130,000 in car replacement costs alone, he said. He also questioned the $21,600 set aside for legislative fees, which he said the city uses as a “slush fund.”
“We should make them come and ask for what they want,” said Causer.
