When the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team begins spring practice Friday at Scrappy Moore field, Mocs coach Russ Huesman will be keeping his eyes on the young guys.

“Spring’s a young guy event,” he said Monday. “It’s finding depth, it’s competing, it’s bringing young guys along.”

Huesman may also be checking out his new coordinators in Jeff Durden (offense) and Adam Braithwaite (defense). Durden, the former longtime James Madison offensive coordinator, said he wants to see the offense handle the basics well before things get too complicated.

“You’ve got to crawl before you can walk,” he said Tuesday. “I want to see knowledge of the system and we’ve got to find our best 11.”

Huesman and Durden said Terrell Robinson is definitely one of the Mocs’ best 11 and the dual-threat player will split time between quarterback and wide receiver during the 15 spring practices.
