Soddy-Daisy city officials and the other organizers of the second annual Christmas in the Park celebration at Poe’s Tavern are looking for singing groups to perform at the event being held Saturday, Dec. 7 from 5-8 p.m. The organizers are requesting that interested groups sign up by Wednesday, Nov. 13.
“Any church or school that would like to get involved, give us a call,” said Calvin Nunley, pastor at Christ Family Church and one of the event’s organizers.
He said last year’s event drew around 600-700 people.
“It’s a cooperative effort between the churches and the city,” he said. “The event is about fun and fellowship and the community getting together.”
Along with the musical entertainment, the event will feature a bonfire, an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus, pastries, desserts, coffee and hot chocolate.
Firemen will also be collecting donations that evening for Soddy-Daisy Toys for Tots, said City Commissioner Geno Shipley.
