ATLANTA - Georgia transportation officials say two right lanes of Interstate 85 near the northeast edge of Atlanta remained closed this morning because of a giant sinkhole.
WSB radio reports that the lanes are expected to reopen Wednesday afternoon.
Georgia Department of Transportation officials say it's been years since they've had to fix a sinkhole on an interstate. GDOT says the sinkhole occurred when a drainage system failed amid heavy rain Sunday night.
Drivers are still being asked to carpool or avoid the area near the Clairmont Road exit if possible.
