Plan now for a beautiful yard

With fall just around the corner, now is the time to start planning for a great looking yard.

“This year has been great for grass, since it’s stayed so cool and we’ve gotten some rain,” said Signal Mountain Nursery owner Kim Bonastia.

For those who had a brown patch last year, now is the time to do a preventive disease control treatment (fungicide), she said.

Now is also the time to be checking plants for different insects. Signs of black sooty mold on a leaf can indicate the presence of scales, which are common on holly plants.

“You’ll want to treat it to keep it from getting out of control,” said Bonastia.
