NEW DELHI (AP) – A New Delhi transportation official says the Indian capital has banned taxi-booking service Uber after a woman was allegedly raped by one of its drivers.

Satish Mathur says Uber taxi services will no longer be able to operate in New Dehli.

The CEO of the San Francisco-based company, Travis Kalanick, said it would do “everything to bring the perpetrator to justice and to support the victim and her family in her recovery.”

Police said the suspect, 32-year-old Shiv Kumar Yadav, was expected to be charged Monday in a New Delhi court with raping the finance company employee on Friday night. He was hired to ferry her home from a dinner engagement.
