DETROIT (AP) – A jury has convicted a Detroit-area man of murder in his wife’s death after a salacious trial that focused on his affairs and zest for bondage and domination.

Jane Bashara was strangled at the couple’s Grosse Pointe Park home by a handyman in 2012. But prosecutors said it was her husband, Bob Bashara, who arranged the killing. He was found guilty of first-degree murder Thursday.

The 57-year-old Bashara didn’t testify but repeatedly professed his innocence.

Defense lawyers said Bashara could have continued his affairs and alternative lifestyle without getting rid of his wife. He was known as “Master Bob.”
