Arrest made in death of woman found burned in Georgia park

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Police have arrested a man in the death of a woman whose burned body was found in a Gwinnett County park.

County police spokesman Jake Smith said in a statement Monday that 37-year-old Charmane Demetrius Goins of Tunnel Hill has been arrested in the death of 26-year-old Lauren Taylor. Her body was found in Deshong Park in unincorporated Stone Mountain in early October.

Police say detectives investigating Taylor's death determined Goins was having an affair with Taylor, whose body was found by a couple walking their dog. The motive is unclear.

Goins is charged with malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault. Authorities say Goins was arrested by the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office and is now in the Gwinnett County jail without bond. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
