Chattanooga’s downtown ice skating rink, Ice on the Landing, will stay open nearly an extra month due to popular demand.

The original closing date was scheduled for Jan. 4, but the rink will now stay open through Feb. 1.

“We’ve just seen such an overwhelmingly positive response from the general public for the rink that we’ve extended our contract with the ice rink company to have it stay in place through the end of January,” said Carla Prichard, owner of Chattanooga presents, which manages the experience.

The downtown outdoor ice skating rink, sponsored by Volkswagen Chattanooga, will feature 125 reserved tickets on New Year’s Eve from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. for a so-called “late skate.” Those tickets are available online.
