Get something you like while supporting a good cause at the second annual Signal Mountain Middle/High School Sports Boosters Auction Saturday, Feb. 8 from 7-11 p.m.
“We’ve got some fun music and lots of wonderful items,” said event chair Arlina Hensley. “We want to make sure the whole community feels welcome to attend.”
She said all of the middle and high school sports teams participated in gathering auction items, which include everything from vacation homes to diamond rings.
Attendees can choose from birthday baskets, which include a sports-themed birthday party attended by three basketball players, or a football package including tickets and the opportunity to run out onto the field during a game. Also available are spa packages, wine, handyman services and ACT tutoring.
“All proceeds go back into the Sports Boosters,” said Hensley, explaining that half the funds will go to the team that contributed the item and half will go to the Sports Boosters general fund for the purchase of uniforms and basic equipment and field upkeep.
Funds will also go toward future projects such as a new weight room and additional track and field equipment, she said.
“We want to be able to continue to grow at our school and provide what they need to continue to thrive,” Hensley said in regards to the reason for the auction. “It is because of the community and the parents that we are where we are.”
Another goal of the adults-only event is to recognize the success of the school’s athletes and acknowledge all its championship teams, she said.
“We’re trying to encourage our younger families at Nolan and Thrasher to come see what our sports program is all about,” said Hensley.
Tickets are $40 for singles and $75 for couples and can be purchased at the door or ordered online at smmhs.hcde.org/?PageName=bc&n=160472.
