Rossville vying to bring in new CVS store

CVS officials would like to build a CVS at the entrance to the city of Rossville on Chickamauga Avenue.

“CVS is interested in the old Jo-Ann’s shop, Best Jewelers, Kat’s Pawn Shop and Brody Jewelers,” Rossville Mayor Teddy Harris reported, adding that the project would involve leveling the block for construction. “All landowners agreed to it except Brody. We offered our assistance to Brody’s to help them move to another spot if they are interested in moving. I hope Brody’s will decide to sell to CVS.”

Other exciting things are happening with businesses in Rossville too, he said.

“The Hardee’s will be rebuilding,” said Harris.

The new Hardee’s will be built after one is built in Dalton.

“Pioneer Credit [next to Hardee’s] is moving to Glover Plaza,” Harris continued. “The DDA worked on keeping them in the city.”

Next meeting

Due to inclement weather, the February Rossville City Council meeting was cancelled. The next meeting is scheduled for March 10 at 7 p.m. at Rossville City Hall. The council will discuss the $500,000 Community Development Block Grant the city applied for to complete a sewer project. The city applied for the grant in 2010 but did not receive it that year.
