t wasn’t too long ago that Rob Eldridge had more in common than usual with his two teenage daughters.
They were in school full-time and so was he. They were dating for the first time and he was dating for the first time in a long time. Their evenings were spent balancing homework with leisure time and so were his.
“I originally went into commercial construction management – that was the 10-year gig out of college,” said Eldridge, who left that field to pursue a career in massage therapy. “I am where I’m supposed to be.”
Now in his third year of practice, Eldridge’s business, Chattanooga Massage Therapy and Day Spa, has expanded to include four licensed massage therapists and two licensed aestheticians. For him, there’s nothing better than being in the business of helping others.
“I’m never tired,” said Eldridge. “It’s the coolest thing. The more I give, the more I feel refreshed.”
Located at 2601 S. Broad St., the business features a wide variety of massage and spa offerings ranging from hot stone and sports massage to body waxing and spray tan. From the beginning, Eldridge said he employed a team approach when building his business.
“I saw a need,” he said. “There are a lot of really talented therapists in the town but they don’t always know how to market themselves or advertise. If we all come together and promote one name and business, we’re more successful as a team.”
Eldridge said he’s always looking for more talented professionals to join the Chattanooga Massage Therapy and Day Spa team and he’s looking to build more community relationships, especially with businesses.
“We can come on site and serve their needs,” he said.
While some people may think of massage as a “guilty pleasure,” Eldridge said he and his staff consider it more of a preventative service for body maintenance. Massage therapy can lower blood pressure, decrease stress levels, improve people’s sleep, help with weight loss and eliminate chronic pain, he explained.
“For a lot of clients, this is a life changer for them,” said Eldridge. “People come to us in some form of discomfort and the fact that when they leave there’s positive results, that’s so rewarding to us and our clients.”
