Scarlett Consignment opens in Ringgold with Southern flair

Scarlett Consignment is bringing Southern sophistication to people on a budget in Ringgold.

Irina’s Alterations owner Irina Nizamutdinova and her business partner, Chic by Maryia Boutique owner Maryia Cox, are partnering on this second business venture near the present boutique and alterations store. The new store, at 2235 Dietz Road in Ringgold, will continue adding more stylish, reasonably priced prom, wedding and formal dresses to the lineup.

“When we opened Scarlett’s, we named it that because of deep Southern style,” said Cox, adding that “Gone with the Wind” character Scarlett O’Hara has always been an inspiration in Southern style. “We made the shop green and gold accents like Scarlett’s curtain dress in the movie. We opened Scarlett’s as an opportunity to do something new for the community.”

She and Nizamutdinova said they wanted to fulfill a local need for an affordable consignment store because many of their existing boutique customers requested it.

“The dress may have originally been $500, but we charge half the price of the original tag,” Nizamutdinova said in regards to Scarlett’s inventory.

The store offers two-month layaway plans so that customers can pay with each paycheck to make it even more affordable, said Cox.

Nizamutdinova can alter the dresses for an additional fee, while Cox can match jewelry and accessories with it from her nearby boutique store. Scarlett’s offers consigned dress shoes too.

“Just by word of mouth people brought in quite a bit of dresses to consign already,” said Cox. “When someone brings a dress in, we sit down and agree on a price so they are happy.”

The owners agree that style does not change much when it comes to formal dresses. A variety of styles are always popular every season.

“Style is more based on the individual and what looks good on them,” said Cox. “Irina being a seamstress can change any dress into the style you want.”
