Wineries in Gilmer and Fannin counties are among the 14 taking part in the Spring Wine Highway Weekend sponsored by the nonprofit Winegrowers Association of Georgia. This year, the event expands into two weekends: March 22-23 and 29-30. Hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. Sundays.
Organizers say participation in the circuit has grown “to the point where trying to fit [it] into one weekend for so many has been a challenge.” The new format will allow participants to plan visits over two weekends to make the Wine Highway experience “relaxing and the best it can be.”
Cost is $30 per person, which comes with a souvenir glass and a pass to all participating wineries, which include Cartecay Vineyards in Ellijay and Serenberry Vineyards in Morganton near Blue Ridge.
Other participants are Montaluce Winery and Cavender Creek Vineyards, both in Dahlonega; Serenity Cellars and The Cottage Vineyards & Winery, both in Cleveland; Habersham Winery in Helen; Sautee Nacoochee Vineyards in Sautee; Yonah Mountain Vineyards in Sautee-Nacoochee; Tiger Mountain Vineyards in Tiger; 12 Spies Vineyards in Rabun Gap; Hightower Creek Vineyards in Hiawassee; Crane Creek Vineyards in Young Harris; and Sharp Mountain Vineyards in Jasper.
