Independence Day probably isn’t on most people’s minds this time of year, but the city of Collegedale is already planning ahead for its annual celebration.
At its most recent meeting, the City Commission unanimously approved a bid for $20,000 worth of fireworks, which is twice the amount that was allotted last year.
“It’s going to be a noticeable and markable difference,” said City Manager Ted Rogers.
For the first time this year, the annual show will be shot electronically and will be much larger than in years past, he said. The event is scheduled for Thursday, July 3 at Veterans Memorial Park. Due to inclement weather, last year’s Independence Day celebration was rescheduled for Labor Day.
