Finding Balance

Artful Yoga, which began last year at the Hunter Museum of American Art, finds a surprisingly harmonious balance between art and yoga, attracting more than 60 open-minded attendees each month.

“If you like yoga, this is a great way to expand your practice,” Adera Causey, curator of education for the Hunter Museum, says. “It will also help you see art very differently because it is not a typical art tour.”

Each session, Causey says, usually begins with around 20 minutes of a deep dialogue discussing the chosen artwork for the session, followed by an hour of yoga practice.

A different yoga instruc- tor from the Chattanooga area leads the practice each time, adding to the evolving uniqueness of each individual session.

Legg says the events are a great time to reflect, de-stress and take some time for yourself.
