One dead, another critical after 3-vehicle crash in Sale Creek

A 17-year-old from Cleveland, Tenn., was killed and other person injured in a three-vehicle crash on Dayton Pike early Saturday.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said the teen, Haley Howard, was driving a 2002 Honda Civic south in the northbound lanes.

Howard’s vehicle sideswiped a 1995 Chevy Blazer and then hit a 2010 Nissan Versa head-on, sheriff’s spokeswoman Janice Atkinson said in a news release.

Howard died at the scene. The Blazer driver was uninjured, but the Nissan driver was critically injured. Atkinson said that driver was airlifted to an area hospital.

The sheriff’s office traffic division is handling the investigation.
