Man arrested in Oct. 27 Central Avenue killing

A 29-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the October slaying of Terrence Lebron Bivens, 28.

Ladaquis D. Southers has been arrested, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

Bivens was shot around 3:50 a.m. on Oct. 27 at 3732 Central Ave. in Chattanooga. He was found dead from his wounds when officers arrived on the scene. His killing was the third during that week in October, sparking several discussions with police and local clergy on how to curb the violence.

Southers was arrested in Atlanta on Nov. 21 by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Task Force, and he is awaiting extradition back to Hamilton County. He faces charges of criminal homicide and unlawful possession of a firearm.
