WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama is consulting with lawmakers, public health officials and heads of state about the Ebola outbreak.
Obama canceled a Thursday campaign trip to stay at the White House and focus on Ebola. It’s the second day in a row Obama nixed a planned trip because of the outbreak.
The White House says Obama will meet Thursday afternoon with some members of his Cabinet. He’ll also make phone calls to members of Congress to discuss what role lawmakers can play in the Ebola response.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest says Obama will also hold a conference call with health care workers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And he’ll also place phone calls to foreign leaders as the global community seeks to ramp up its response.
