Uniquely Unhinged specializes in the undead

From zombie makeup to shabby chic wall art, Uniquely Unhinged owner Michelle Hatfield does it all.

The licensed makeup artist works out of her home in Soddy-Daisy as well as attending events such as the Zombie Walk coming up at Coolidge Park Saturday, Sept. 13. There, she will have a booth set up beginning at noon where she will have creepy hand-painted dolls for sale and will be doing zombie makeup for attendees before the walk starts at 5 p.m.

“It will be even bigger than last year,” Hatfield said of this year’s second annual Zombie Walk, a $5 fundraiser for the Chattanooga Area Food Bank which features lots of other vendors and live music.

She also did makeup for the Zombie Run held in April, and she plans to do makeup for the zombies at the zombie paintball haunted house at Sir Goony’s next month.

“I do all types of makeup, from beauty to beast,” said Hatfield, who has been a makeup artist for more than 20 years. “It’s not only a hobby, but also a job.”

She said she got into zombie makeup because it is popular, and also because she is a big fan of “The Walking Dead.”

Hatfield typically gets lots of business around Halloween, but she also does other custom work such as masquerade masks.
