The Governor’s Council on Judicial Appointments will select three finalists for Criminal Court Judge Rebecca Stern’s seat today.

The public hearing will begin at 9 a.m. at the Read House. A panel of 11 people appointed by Gov. Bill Haslam will interview these seven candidates:

Red Bank City Judge and private attorney Johnny D. Houston Jr.

Soddy-Daisy City Judge D. Marty Lasley

Assistant District Public Defender Mike A. Little

Assistant District Attorney General Leslie Anne Longshore

Assistant District Attorney General Boyd M. Patterson Jr.

Private attorney John Gary McDougal, of the McDougal Law Office

Private attorney Samuel Francis Robinson III, of the Robinson Law Firm

Haslam will appoint Stern’s replacement from among the three finalists.

Stern announced in February that her retirement would be effective June 1. She and her husband plan to move to Puerto Rico full time.
