LAS VEGAS (AP) – State and local officials in Las Vegas are talking about “concentric circles” of security around the upcoming Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight.

Deputy Las Vegas Police Chief Gary Schofield says they’re not preparing for a fight night. They’re preparing for a fight week.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission is handling what goes on inside the ring.

The hotel and police have responsibility for the arena and casino.

And police, with state and federal agencies, are in charge outside – from McCarran International Airport to Interstate 15 to neighborhoods.

MGM Grand security chief Tim Jeffery says fight fans will notice lots of officers in bright yellow-green shirts, but won’t see behind-the-scenes preparation.

Deputy Fire Chief Erik Newman say after-fight events and overcrowding at clubs are the biggest security challenge.
