These words span a long distance from Chattanooga; in a faraway city, a Chattanooga resident tasted a meal ordered from The Blue Apron, an online meal service that provides three adventurous meals a week, measured ingredients delivered to your door with illustrated recipes. Our faraway correspondent asked, “Has anyone ordered from Blue Apron locally, and would you recommend the service? I tasted the salmon with panzanella salad and would like anybody’s recipe for this salad that contains toasted bread.”
Another question came from Damaris Zamudio as she was preparing the dinner described later in this column. “How do you prepare churros without getting crisp outsides and gooey insides?”
Attend, too, please, to these lost-but-not-yet found requests for “a healthy bread-machine bread using chopped dates, a warm hummus dip for crackers topped with feta cheese, and a carrot casserole with Velveeta cheese.”
A reader asked a question about the best desserts in town, and I passed that question to Ginny Gaines, who thought immediately of a chiffon cake, “served many many times as I was growing up on the farm.”
