Ooltewah Owls

Pedal to the metal

A lesser man might have turned in his gear, but there was no quit in London Elrod, whose starting quarterback job for Ooltewah was usurped a year ago by unsung senior Kelvin Leon.

Leon, securing his grip on the job, led the Owls to an unbeaten regular season and two games into the playoffs, finishing just shy of 3,000 passing yards with 29 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions.

“It’s not a thing anybody wants to have happen to them. The thing about quarterbacks, you can only have one on the field,” coach Mac Bryan said. “London handled it very well – with class. He worked hard in practice, and he worked to be a great teammate.”
