It took Jordan Smith just 30 minutes to unseat Adele from the No. 1 spot on iTunes singles chart Monday night following his electrifying performance on "The Voice." The British diva has held the No. 1 spot in digital downloads for five weeks according to officialcharts.com.

NBC's talent show signed off at 10 p.m. and Smith was No. 1 at 10:30.

The 21-year-old Lee University tenor took on Queen's "Somebody to Love," receiving a standing ovation from all four judges and sustained cheers from the audience. His mentor and coach Adam Levine threw his arms up in the air in the classic Rocky Balboa victory stance as his contestant closed the song.

Smith, who has excelled in covering hits of female artists, showed audiences a side of him they hadn't seen so far this season. Backed by a gospel choir, he worked the stage in a production number that ranged from low-register growls to a falsetto riffs that "went all Aguilera" as Levine compared them to Christina Aguilera's signature vocal runs.

On a night that was heavy on power ballads as contestants tried to show their vocal prowess for viewers' votes, Smith stood head and shoulders above the competition. Results of Monday's vote will be revealed Tuesday at 8p.m. when the top nine of Season 9 will be cut to four finalists.
