When the staff at MetalTek offices around the country need to explain to a potential customer what they make at the foundries, they take them to the lobby and point at the giant mural that covers an entire wall.
The paintings, created by local artist Ali Kay, depict some the things the company produces; the one at the company’s Chattanooga location showcases a jumbo jet, oil rigs and bridges, for example.
Kay, who has done murals for private homes as well as businesses, says each mural was created with a similar color palette and layout design.
“Designing is the biggest challenge, but it’s also fun,” she says.
So far, Kay has painted four such murals for MetalTek in the last two years, the first done at the local headquarters here on South Creek Road. Through her Positive Space business located in Chattanooga Workspace, Kay also does decorative painting work for residential and commercial clients.
