Editor’s note: Barry Courter has a 26-year-old son who is a college graduate and a 22-year-old daughter who is a college senior. Each week he poses a question he wishes they would ask.
Q: Friends who are dating or married seem to equate fighting with each other as being passionate about each other. Why?
A: Because they are confused. Or it’s what they saw growing up from their own parents. Couples will have disagreements, but yelling and screaming aren’t necessary. And the sooner you learn that nobody actually wins when couples fight, the better.
