Led by offensive lineman Corey Levin, three University of Tennessee at Chattanooga players were named to the STATS Football Championship Subdivision All-America team Tuesday.
Levin was a first-team selection, while quarterback Jacob Huesman and defensive end Keionta Davis were selected to the second team. It’s the second All-America honor this season for both Levin and Davis, who recently were named to College Sports Madness team.
The 6-foot-5, 305-pound Levin, a junior from Dacula, Ga., earned the Jacobs Blocking Award – given to the Southern Conference’s best offensive lineman – for the second consecutive season. Behind him and his line mates, the Mocs averaged 241.9 yards rushing and 415.4 yards of total offense per game.
It’s Levin’s second consecutive season being named to at least one All-America team, as he was named third team by The Associated Press in 2014.
The 6-2, 220-pound Huesman had 2,117 yards passing and 1,244 rushing (the second-best season in school history) and accounted for 26 total touchdowns. The former Baylor School star was named the SoCon offensive player of the year for the third time, the first player in school history to do so.
Davis, a 6-4, 260-pound junior from Red Bank, had a school-record 13.5 sacks and 17 tackles for loss in his first full season as a starter, both of those totals leading the SoCon. He was named first-team all-conference.
