Abortion, Benghazi talk wastes of time
The U.S. House and now the Senate have held countless hours of hearings costing millions of dollars to determine if the loss of three lives in the raid on the Benghazi embassy was by “terrorists” or by “demonstrators.” Does anyone other than Fox “news” care? These congressional investigations would do much more good if they investigated the Tennessee governor and the legislature for their inaction that has cost hundreds of lives and millions of dollars lost by their inaction in expanding Medicaid. By their failure to do anything, 200,000 Tennesseans have not had insurance to pay for preventive care and treatment. The legislature should not be spending time on abortion legislation and spend time to stop killing babies and children by denying health care.

City fails to explain Partnership decision
Thank you for the editorial expressing the need for any Family Justice Center to work with the existing programs of Partnership for Families, Children and Adults and the experience of the staff. The Sunday article by Joy Smith raised some questions without giving answers. If one of Mayor Berke’s goals was a one-stop-shop for domestic violence, why would the center not include a shelter? What safety concerns or whose safety informed the city’s decision not to include a shelter? The city should be applauding the work of the Partnership and making sure that all government plans support its continuing availability for life-saving, life-altering services.
