The Bradley County Board of Education and Johnny McDaniel, the director of Bradley County Schools, announced this afternoon that a special meeting will be held to approve an agreement to end McDaniel’s employment early.

The meeting will be Feb. 24 at 1:30 p.m., and a proposal to buy out the remainder of McDaniel’s 2014-2015 contract will be presented to the board.

A news release from the school system says both McDaniel and the board have become aware of “differing opinions” with regard to McDaniel’s leadership.

“After discussing these differing opinions with Board members, Mr. McDaniel suggested that it would be in the best interest of the Bradley County Schools to buy out the remaining months of Mr. McDaniel’s contract,” the release states.

“Mr. McDaniel appreciates having had the opportunity to serve the Bradley County School System as the principal of Bradley Central High School and as the Director of Bradley County Schools,” the release states. “He wishes the Board of Education, its administrators and its faculty well as they continue to provide an excellent education to the children of Bradley County.”
