Conservatives root of all evil

I would like to comment on an article by Lucas Johnson about a minister who bemoans the overreach of the federal government. This minister, June Griffin, went so far as calling our government “tyrannical.” She, as well as most on the far right, come up with these theories and obviously don’t have any doubts. The first 10 amendments known as the Bill of Rights protect us against tyranny. The following 17 amendments give more rights to the people. The folks who like to call themselves conservatives have no idea what would have happened if our country would have been run by so-called “conservatives” from our forefathers onward. The true meaning of a conservative would not have allowed any amendments to the Constitution; in fact, even the Bill of Rights were objected to by true conservatives of the day. So have the conservatives of today really read into our Constitution? If our modern day conservatives had their way, we would not have a minimum wage, no Social Security, Medicare, no labor laws, etc.

Don’t ridicule wary parents

I saw my son go through the years of his vaccines and come out of that time no longer the bright-eyed, happy handicapped child he was. He is lost in a cloud of autism. No, I don’t know if there was a connection. But stop calling me dumb because I am wary. On one hand, we spend thousands of extra dollars to get mercury out of our environment, but a derivative of it is still used in vaccines. My son already had problems; maybe he and others are more susceptible to the chemicals in vaccines. Instead of deriding those of us who wonder, provide a good explanation. Don’t just claim we are ignoring “good science” and stop the ridicule.
