Westbrook joins Surgery Group
Katelyn Westbrook, an aesthetic nurse, has joined the Plastic Surgery Group in Chattanooga. She will focus on nonsurgical procedures including Botox and injectable fillers and skincare and is the first to serve in this role in the practice’s 56-year history.
“Katelyn is an aesthetic nursing trifecta. She has an artistic eye, keen technical skills and an engaging and uplifting personality,”said Dr. Mark A. Brzezienski, one of the principals in the Plastic Surgery Group.
The addition of Westbrook reflects the growth in medical alternatives to surgical solutions to improve the way one looks.
“More Chattanoogans are looking for noninvasive ways to enhance their appearance,” said Communications Specialist Andre Charitat. “By bringing Katelyn’s expertise to the Plastic Surgery Group, we are hoping to cater to this growing market.”
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 13.4 million minimally invasive cosmetic procedures were performed in the United States in 2013, with Botox injections being the most popular procedure. Soft tissue fillers, which help correct age-related volume loss in the midface, were the second most popular.
Westbrook, a native of Ringgold, Ga., received her nursing degree at Dalton State College and completed her BSN at the University of West Georgia.
She spent time nursing on the cardiothoracic floor at Memorial Hospital and at University Clinic Erlangen, located in Erlangen, Germany.
Prior to coming on board at the Plastic Surgery Group, Westbrook worked at Plaza Surgery Center, a facility where the board-certified plastic surgeons of the Plastic Surgery Group routinely operate.
She is a member of the Association of Plastic Surgical Nurses and the Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialists.
