A fiery wreck on the east bound lane of Interstate 24 in Marion County shut down traffic for five hours Sunday afternoon, Tennessee Highway Patrol officials say.

Patrol Sgt. Bill Miller said in a press release a Chrysler minivan crashed into the back of a refrigerated tractor trailer at mile marker 156 on the interstate, and both vehicles caught fire.

Miller did not say how many people were involved in the wreck, but there were injuries.

Tennessee Department of Transportation and Tennessee Emergency Management Agency officials are on the scene at this time. Traffic is being diverted off exit 155, Miller said.
