KNOXVILLE — Two quarterbacks began their University of Tennessee careers by enrolling in spring-semester classes this week.

The Volunteers added a third to their 2015 recruiting class Thursday.

Former Florida commitment Sheriron Jones, out Moreno Valley’s Rancho Verde High School in California, announced his pledge to Tennessee to become the Vols’ third four-star quarterback for 2015, joining the already enrolled Jauan Jennings and Quinten Dormady.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Jones, the nation’s No. 7 dual-threat quarterback and No. 144 overall prospect according to 247Sports.com, was one of the Vols’ top quarterback targets when he committed to the Gators in June.

After Florida fired coach Will Muschamp, Jones reopened his recruitment in early December. His scholarship offer list included Ole Miss, Arizona, Arizona State and Nebraska, among others.

Tennessee did not sign a quarterback in 2014 after adding a pair — current starter Josh Dobbs and the departed Riley Ferguson — in 2013. The Vols also hold an early commitment from Austin Kendall, a four-star prospect out of the Charlotte area, for their 2016 class. Dobbs and Nathan Peterman are returning scholarship quarterbacks.
