The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga used balanced scoring to defeat Southern Conference opponent Virginia Military Institute 86-64 in front of 3,190 fans at McKenzie Arena on Thursday.
The Mocs (13-7, 6-1) shot 48 percent from the field against the Keydets' relentless pressure, and forced 22 turnovers that they turned into 23 points in the win. Eric Robertson led the team with 17 points, while Ronrico White had 15. Casey Jones had 13 points, five rebounds and three steals, while Justin Tuoyo finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, four blocks and two steals.
Defensively, the Mocs limited VMI to 31 percent shooting. Phillip Anglade led the Keydets (7-13, 3-6) with 16 points.
UTC will play UNC Greensboro Saturday in the final part of a doubleheader.
