The mother of Geoffrey Deane Peterson, the Hixson man whose businesses were targeted in a DEA raid on Friday, was arrested Friday for “willful neglect, abuse, or exploitation of an adult.”

A mug shot of Sheila Peterson, 88, was posted by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, along with the charges. Chattanooga police have not issued any report with details of the arrest, and calls for information were not returned Saturday. The victim of the alleged abuse is unclear. However, Peterson’s husband, Dr. Walter A Peterson Jr., is listed on healthgrades.com as being 89 years old.

Geoffrey Deane Peterson’s place of employment, Holistic Health & Primary Care, and neighboring Hormone Replacement Specialists at 5550 Highway 153, were raided by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Agents also went to Peterson’s home.

Hormone Replacement Specialists identify Peterson on its website as “Dr. Deane Peterson,” though Peterson is a family nurse practitioner, not a doctor.
State records show that Peterson’s supervising physician is his father, and the elder man’s name appears with his son’s on all prescriptions. One patient said that during one year of attending Holistic Health & Primary Care, he never saw Walter Peterson.

In December, Geoffrey Dean Peterson was arrested on charges of animal cruelty after animal rescuers found more than 60 animals, mostly dogs, in squalid conditions in a Dunlap, Tenn. house. More dogs were taken from one of his businesses.
