Lee University’s Taylor Davis from Franklin, Tenn., is the Cleveland school’s first male golfer to be named an NCAA Division II PING All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Davis made the All-America second team. He already was a Christian college first-team All-American and Scholar Athlete. Davis won two tournaments, finished second once and was third three times in the 2014-15 season for the Flames, who won five of the 10 events they entered, including the Gulf South Conference tournament where they could be only unofficial champions this year. “This was one of the best individual seasons in our program’s history,” Lee coach John Maupin said in a school release. “I’m very excited and happy to see Taylor get some recognition after such an outstanding season. I feel because we were in transition to DII, Taylor had to work twice as hard to achieve this honor. Taylor gives his best in everything he does, on and off the course.”

Lacrosse
* McCallie School goalie Tate Boyce made USA Today High School Sports’ 2015 All-USA boys’ lacrosse second team, as picked by Casey Vock of 3d Rising. A recent graduate headed to Providence College, Boyce helped the Blue Tornado go 19-2 and win the Tennessee state championship. He had 15 saves in the 13-11 state-final win over Memphis University School. “Boyce showcases incredible reflexes, sees the ball from the release to his stick and keeps rebounds to a minimum,” Vock wrote in his player-by-player evaluations posted Tuesday. “His season was highlighted by a 22-save performance against Super 25 No. 2 Landon. He denied 64 percent of the shots he faced and allowed only five goals per game. He made 15 or more saves in six games this year.”
