University of Tennessee at Chattanooga sophomore post player Jasmine Joyner was named Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week Monday for her play in the final week of the regular season.

It was the first weekly honor of season for the Southaven, Miss., native.

In Saturday’s 64-42 win over East Tennessee State, Joyner had 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and 14 rebounds to help the Mocs wrap up an unbeaten regular season in SoCon play.

Joyner has a SoCon record 118 blocks this season, and 4.1 blocks per game.

The Mocs will begin postseason in the first round of the Southern Conference tournament Thursday at noon in Asheville, N.C., against UNC Greensboro.
